Rising star and Fayetteville, GA native Zach John King is hitting the ground running this year, today sharing that he has signed with label Sony Music Nashville.

King shared his excitement for the announcement, stating “I’m so dang grateful to be with such a stellar team. They’ve been there since day one and have been behind some of my favorite artists of all time. I’m proud to have a home team here in Nashville. I’m ready to get to work.”

Additionally, King released a new track today titled “Slow Down” – listen HERE. Produced by Ryan Wilson, King wrote the song with Thomas Archer, Kyle Fishman, and Michael Tyler. “Slow Down” tells the story of a narrator reflecting on a failed relationship, haunted by the memory of his ex. The track features King’s rich, emotional vocals and a melancholy yet driving melody. King also released a music video to accompany the track, filmed in his home state of Georgia – watch HERE

“I wrote ‘Slow Down’ with Thomas Archer, Kyle Fishman, and Michael Tyler. We wanted to capture the feeling of seeing someone you loved move on quickly and the pain of not being able to get them off your mind. It’s a story that I think a lot of people can relate to — that classic small-town experience where, after a breakup, there’s no escaping the memories. In a town that small, they follow you around everywhere, no matter where you go,” King shared. “I love the vibe and the beat behind this song. It’s also a chance for my fans to hear something musically different from what I’ve released in the past, with more variety and depth to my sound. Writing songs that people can connect with is one of my favorite things to do, and I think most people have been through something like this at some point.”

Along with releasing new music, King has been busy on the road, last year touring with artists including Conner Smith and Logan Crosby. This year, King will join Vincent Mason as an opener on Mason’s “Hell Is A Dance Floor Tour.”

Pairing the reflective insight of a roots poet with the edgy intensity of raw alt-rock, Sony Music Nashville artist Zach John King is pushing country in a brand new (yet-strangely-familiar) direction – straight toward the truth, no matter where it leads. Raised in Fayetteville, Georgia and a lyricist first (with multiple generations of poets in the family), the rising star grew up old school but dreaming of escape. A fan of everything from George Jones and Otis Redding to The Police, Third Eye Blind, Switchfoot, and Biz Markie, King fronted an indie-rock band through college before making the move to Nashville in 2021, inspired to explore his country roots as the mainstream genre expands. Whether it was through power chords and pounding drums or bare-knuckle balladry, his minimalistic country-meets-rock sound resulted in his first solo track in 2023 – an audacious collision of styles titled “Just Missed You,” filled with vivid authenticity – and a series of independent singles followed before King’s 2024 breakout single, “Wannabe Cowboy.” Boasting a less-is-more indie-roots presentation, the conflicted confessional ballad stands in bold contrast to country’s chest thumping identity anthems and has so far garnered 3.4 million streams worldwide, with placement on high-profile playlists like Spotify’s New Boots, Fresh Country and Next From Nashville. Releasing the grungy, slow burning dive-bar anthem “Hole In the Wall” at the end of 2024, a new chapter now begins, and there’s much more on tap. Angling toward a wider 2025 debut, King will keep exploring the raw, rootsy borderlands where country and rock collide, wielding electric guitars, a smoky vocal edge and little else.
