Wolff Audio, a leader in professional audio equipment design, announced the release of its ProPatch Patchbay, the first digitally-controlled, entirely relay-based, large-scale analog patchbay. Featuring 128 patch points, the ProPatch is designed to route audio with one hundred percent transparency, accomplished through a “straight wire” signal path free of electronics. The ProPatch 128R is now available, with additional models set for release at NAMM 2025.
The ProPatch supports USB-C, Ethernet or WiFi connectivity. The control application runs on Mac, Windows and mobile, configuring connected equipment and setting up signal routings that may be associated with DAW sessions. Additional tools include easily saving and recalling snapshots, signal chains, sophisticated multing, expansive routing possibilities and the creation “A/B groups” for gear comparison.
“With the ProPatch, our goal was to transform a left-brain, laborious process into an instant and intuitive one, enabling engineers to use their analog gear to the fullest, whether tracking, mixing, or mastering,” says Jared Vogt, ProPatch designer and co-founder of Wolff Audio. “As an immutable principle, the ProPatch’s signal path had to be free of electronics - no sonic fingerprint - and able to pass phantom power and mic/line levels. It is agnostic to the signal it’s routing; electrically, it is just a “wire.”
Vogt continues, “Engineers will use their gear differently once they have a ProPatch. It facilitates happy accidents and experiments that wouldn’t be possible otherwise.”
128 patch points are available as 12 rear panel DB25s, 16 TT I/O pairs on the front panel, 4 XLR/TRS
combo jacks and 4 TRS jacks. The ProPatch takes up a single rack space, does not generate heat, nor does it require fans. Designed to easily drop-in and replace an existing TT patchbay, the ProPatch may also be integrated with large existing TT patchbay systems via its front panel TT connections. Multiple ProPatches can be chained together to incorporate larger routing systems.
The ProPatch Patchbay is available now through select retailers at $8,987. Wolff Audio is represented by Sound Vision Works, a pro-audio marketing and distribution agency.
