In a message to fans, Scott Weiland has announced that Australian-born guitarist Nick Maybury will be joining his band the Wildabouts when they hit the road to play a host of solo and festival dates. The band’s Jeremy Brown passed away unexpectedly last month; a day before Scott Weiland and the Wildabouts’ debut album, Blaster, was released on March 31.
“Jeremy had big shoes and no one can fill them,” said Weiland. “Along with Tommy Black—rhythm guitar –he was my best friend and my collaborator. But we have to soldier on. Nick is an incredible player and is a great fit for the Wildabouts.”
Maybury came to Los Angeles as a member of the Australian band Mink. His first L.A. gig was with Perry Farrell, and he’s gone on to play on stage and in the studio with a wide variety of artists including Debbie Harry, Michelle Branch, the Madden Brothers, the Sayers Club, Alice Cooper, the Veronicas and Dave Navarro.
After Brown’s passing, the Wildabouts postponed a U.K. tour until September, but Weiland and his band will pick up their U.S. tour as planned, playing the new album Blaster and tracks from Weiland’s repertoire.
