Vagrant Records has announced the signing of UK band Fossil Collective. The band’s debut album Tell Where I Lie is now available in the US through a partnership between Vagrant and Dirty Hit Records. The album was released on April 8, 2013 and debuted at #1 on Billboard’s New Artist chart as well as at #2 on Billboard’s Heatseekers chart. Tell Where I Lie has received international critical acclaim for the group’s layers of rich harmonies and delicately melodic contemporary sounds.
Fossil Collective formed in 2011 and consists of multi-instrumentalists David Fendick and Jonny Hooker. “We were listening to the kind of music we grew up with (Neil Young, Fleetwood Mac, The Beach Boys, Simon & Garfunkel, James Taylor),” Jonny reminisces. “We decided there and then to try and capture the essence of that traditional song craft, to strip everything back to the song, lyrics and melody.'' Added Dave, "it was actually very liberating to be able to do that.”
In June 2012, Fossil Collective’s debut EP Let It Go was released. The lead track made its way stateside and was chosen as 'Single of the Week' on iTunes and the video has received over 200,000 views: http://youtu.be/J5nE1510oYo
