On Saturday afternoon at this year's Winter NAMM Show, The Section will join moderator Mr. Bonzai in an exploration of the inception and creation of a great album, Jackson Browne's historic "Running on Empty." Released in 1977, the album reached #3 on the Billboard Pop Albums chart in 1978 and stayed on the charts for 65 weeks.
Birth of a Record: Jackson Browne's 1977 "Running on Empty"
Saturday, January 27 - 4:00 pm to 5:00 pm
California Ballroom A (Level 2)
Join moderator Mr. Bonzai and 2018 TEC Award Hall of Fame winners The Section: keyboardist Craig Doerge, guitarist Danny Kortchmar, drummer Russell Kunkel and bassist Leland Sklar in an exploration of the inception and creation of a classic album by 2018 Les Paul Innovation Award-winner Jackson Browne.
Dubbed the "Knights of Soft Rock" by Rolling Stone, The Section will also be honored Saturday evening at the 33rd Annual NAMM Technical Excellence & Creativity Awards (NAMM TEC Awards) as the newest inductees to the NAMM TEC Hall of Fame. Reaching their height in the 70s playing alongside the biggest names in the business, including James Taylor, Carole King, and Crosby, Stills and Nash, The Section also released three of their own imprints and toured and recorded with Jackson Browne in earlier years. While no longer recording collectively, each artist now actively works in the studio and on tour. The Section will reunite on stage for a rare performance of some of their best-known hits in support of the evening's celebration.
