StarMaker, a technology-driven media company breaking new ground in music, is taking talent discovery into the future with new tools and original premium programming. Today’s release of music videos featuring contest winners and top stars from their talent network showcases StarMaker’s entry into original formats and premium content. StarMaker is also partnering with DanceOn, a premium music and dance entertainment platform, to kick off a first-of-its-kind campaign to engage their respective global creator bases. StarMarker will invite their singers to write and record an original single, while DanceOn will activate their network to create highly engaging choreography.
“With these types of innovative programs, top-tier partnerships, and our new premium original music, StarMaker brings the biggest opportunities to our talent network so its members can achieve the fame they deserve,” said Nathan Sedlander, President and co-founder of StarMaker. “With the latest features in our updated app and our original music initiative, we’re taking our talent to the next level and showing the world how pop hits are now being made.”
StarMaker’s latest effort showcases their move into recording and producing original music, and combined with DanceOn’s collaboration, highlights both companies’ innovation around artist discovery and premium content. Featuring an unheard of single produced by Mario Marchetti titled, “Ya Know I Can’t Dance,” artists will use the StarMaker media platform to crowdsource an original single by writing the lyrics and singing the lead vocals of the track. DanceOn will run a parallel initiative using the track to source the dancers to be featured in the official music video.
“We are thrilled to partner with StarMaker in this innovative crowd-sourced campaign,” said Amanda Taylor, CEO of DanceOn. “Our network of talent drives future and current music hits, through viral dance movements and powerful original videos.
The rapid emergence of artists such as Shawn Mendes, Lindsey Stirling and Silentó, who was put on the map by DanceOn, demonstrates the power of new media platforms for discovering the next generation of mainstream talent. Eesean Bolden, A&R at Capitol Records, who signed Silentó to the label, sees this as a new model for discovering and signing emerging talent. Bolden has already expressed interest at a first-look signing opportunity with StarMaker’s winning artist.
“The caliber of talent coming through StarMaker is absolutely impressive,” said Bolden, A&R at Capitol Records. “Combining their interactive method of talent discovery with a campaign like this one shows the future of the music industry.”
StarMaker’s original programming slate kicks off with Collab Lab, which features mashups by top social talent from StarMaker’s roster including Andrew Garcia with KRNFX, Cammie Lester with Corey Gray and Kayla Korpics with Jake Coco / Tay Watts / Corey Gray. Additional formats to follow include “One To Watch,” curation and commentary on all things digital music video, and “A Day In The Life,” special behind-the-scenes biopic showcasing StarMaker’s emerging music superstars working with songwriters and producers in the studio.
StarMaker’s platform is a simple way for music artists to record and distribute their own music videos, build global fan bases and access mainstream industry opportunities, while music fans can enjoy original video content and also play an active role in helping find and sign the next wave of talent.
