Shred Kids’ Cancer, a Thousand Oaks, Calif.-based non-profit that provides funding for pediatric cancer research, presents Shredfest 5 on Saturday April 13 at the House of Blues in Los Angeles from 11:30 am to 3:00 pm. ShredFest is sponsored by Guitar Center, House of Blues and Sunset Sessions and features a Battle of the Bands (all band members are under 18), with celebrity judges, silent auction, and a very special guest performance. In addition, Shred Kids’ Cancer will host a VIP section for pediatric cancer patients and their parents. Tickets are $15 if purchased online in advance from the Shred Kids’ Cancer website or $20 at the door.
Red Carpet entries begin at 11:30 am. Event kicks off at 12 noon.
Rockers Zakk Wylde, (Ozzy Osbourne, Black Label Society), Shavo Odadjian, (System of A Down) and DJ Lethal (Limp Bizkit, House of Pain) will join the judges panel and choose winners in two categories. The show will close with a performance by very special guest stars. Past judges and performers have included Tom Morello, Slash, Steven Adler, Carrie Ann Inaba, Dhani Harrison, Shavo Odadjian, Jack Osbourne, Billy Morrison, Franky Perez, and Dave Kushner.
Auction items up for bid include autographed guitars from Paul McCartney, Rolling Stones, Led Zeppelin, Joe Bonamassa, and Alicia Keys; framed autographed albums from The Beatles, Michael Jackson and Pink Floyd; autographed drumheads from U2 and Ringo Starr; boxing gloves signed by Muhammad Ali; SPA gift baskets; Go Pro Camera; Restaurant Gift Certificates; passes to the industry-only Sunset Sessions and musical equipment donated by Guitar Center. About Shred Kids’ Cancer
Shred Kids’ Cancer was founded in 2009 by 8-year-old Teagan Stedman, when a friend was diagnosed with cancer. The organization is run entirely by young people (with adult guidance) and is dedicated to serving the community by offering kids the opportunity to use their creativity and organizational skills to help their peers who are battling cancer. To date, Shred Kids’ Cancer has raised more than $70,000 and has funded several grants to Mattel Children’s Hospital at UCLA and Children’s Hospital, Los Angeles in support of research that leads to the care, quality of life and survival rate of children with cancer.
