Ringo Starr celebrated his 79th birthday on July 7 in front of the Capitol Records Tower in Hollywood. For 11 years now, Starr has hosted the "Peace and Love" birthday celebration as a nod to his answer many years ago when asked what he wanted for his birthday. While hundreds of fans gathered with Starr in Hollywood, a multitude of fans celebrated all over the world. Celebrations were held in 29 other cities.
Famous friends like David Lynch and Richard Lewis joined Starr and his wife, Barbara Bach, for the festivities. Live performances were held including covers of some of Starr's hits from musicians such as Ben Kyle and Sara Watkins.
Starr has more going than his birthday. He and the All-Starr Band will begin touring on August 1. They have been touring for 30 years and will be performing for a month before finishing out at the Greek Theatre in LA.
