Tyler Bacon, President and CEO of Position Music has announced the promotion of Mark Chipello to the position of Vice President of A&R and Artist Development for the Los Angeles based company.
Chipello joined Position Music in 2011 where he has continued to sign, develop and manage a cadre of artists including Welshly Arms, Tyrone Wells, Judah & the Lion, and Royal Deluxe (amongst others). In addition, Chipello oversees and guides Position Music’s A&R staff and continues to garner both record and publishing deals for Position Music talent, with Welshly Arms being the most recent example of the company’s forward thinking and synergistic approach to the music industry.
In making the announcement, Tyler Bacon states: “I am proud to announce Mark’s promotion to the position of Vice President of A&R and Artist Development. Mark joined Position Music seven years ago and has become an integral part of our team on every level. He is a critical thinker and creative visionary who has an uncanny ability to create something from nothing. In the past seven years Position Music has grown by 500% and Mark Chipello has played a key role in that growth. I trust that he will help lead the charge into more incredible signings and artist development moving forward.”
Adds Chipello, “I am truly honored to be a part of the team at Position Music and to be empowered and entrusted by Tyler Bacon and the rest of our incredible staff. It’s a joy to work with our talented writers, producers, bands and managers every day to create music that changes peoples’ lives. When I signed Welshly Arms a few years ago, they had only played one show at a little bar in Cleveland. Now they have a platinum single, “Legendary,” with over 100 million Spotify streams and are playing in front of thousands of people all around the world every night. Helping to build real careers like this is truly a thrill and the reason that I love Monday mornings.”
