A coalition of organizations, including Play For The Vote, have joined forces to share information about the 2024 election through an event October 5 at the Orpheum Theater, in Saugerties, NY. |
The event, Women Ascending, features a listening party featuring Laurie Anderson's new album Amelia, played in Atmos surround sound and hosted by Anderson; a reception featuring Hudson Valley specialties; a performance by the legendary violist Martha Mooke; and a screening of Mountain Queen, Lucy Walker's thrilling documentary about the Nepalese mountain climber Lhakpa Sherpa. |
In addition to the in-person events, the Amelia Listening Party will be streamed live via the Upstate Films YouTube channel, with donations suggested for Play for the Vote. |
The event is produced by the Women Ascending committee, Play for the Vote, Upstate Films and the League of Women Voters, with support from Netflix. |
