Plastic Rhino Can't Do Without Their Line 6 Helix

Jack Glazer, guitarist with L.A.-based alt-rock duo Plastic Rhino, told us about his love for his Line 6 Helix...

Jack Glazer: My go-to piece of gear is the Line 6 Helix. It suits all of my needs for live performance and recording. Any tone or effect used on my band’s songs can easily be replicated in a simple preset. As time has gone on, the guitar sounds and effects have evolved on our records, but no matter how abstract they are, the Helix can make it happen.

We use a couple of different tunings on our songs, which makes planning a live set a bit of a headache. However, the pitch shifting in the Helix is good enough live where I can actually get away with using just one guitar the whole night.

I’ve always loved Line6’s interface and lineup of amps and effects, which they continue to update to this date. The Helix unit makes certain that I will be getting the exact sound I want every time at every show. Having the ability to use it in conjunction with a tube amp for effects only is nice to have as well. Sometimes I’ll use it with my Blackstar St. James combo, which is a great sounding versatile amp.

With the amount of amps/effects and variety of outputs, the possibilities are endless. I’m always tinkering with settings to improve and discover new sounds. The chase for ultimate tone is a never ending journey.

Plastic Rhino's single "I Rise" is out now.
