With popular TV shows revitalizing metal for a younger audience, like Netflix’s Stranger Things catapulting metal icon Metallica’s “Master of Puppets” to the #1 chart spot 36 years after its release, and with other legendary metal music heavyweights such as Ozzy Osbourne and Slipknot – both Pandora Billionaires themselves – releasing new albums this month, metal is being brought to the forefront of mainstream culture. Now, Pandora is expanding its metal programming to include a new flagship station, METALVERSE, for old and new fans alike dedicated to all things metal.
Taking its inspiration from the enormous popularity of Pandora’s Heavy Metal station, METALVERSE is now the official hardest and heaviest place on Pandora. The station will be a one-stop-shop for metal fans featuring iconic bands like Megadeth, Metallica, Pantera, Rammstein, Gojira, and Lamb of God as well as highlighting burgeoning acts that continue to innovate the genre and bring it to new audiences like Spiritbox, whose song “Holy Roller” was performed by a 10-year-old contestant on America’s Got Talent.
To celebrate the launch of Pandora’s brand new METALVERSE station, Megadeth will host a special takeover of Pandora’s METALVERSE starting on Friday, September 2, the same day as the release of their highly anticipated new album The Sick, the Dying…and the Dead!
On ‘Tales from the METALVERSE,’ Dave Mustaine, James LoMenzo, Dirk Verbeuren, and Kiko Loureiro from the band will share unheard stories about their favorite musicians like Gene Simmons of KISS and Glenn Tipton of Judas Priest.
