The Christopher Wallace Estate, in partnership with OneOf, will go public July 26 with their Sky's The Limit: The Notorious B.I.G. NFT Collection. The collection has gotten tremendous pickup from Complex, Forbes, Billboard and more since the spring when the partnership was announced, and it's finally out tomorrow. Bringing music to Web3 in a way that only OneOf can, the platform's generative profile picture NFT collection features 3D characters inspired by his life, style and lyrics, but crucially gives each NFT holder the right to collectively license the audio of the iconic Fulton Street freestyle Biggie filmed on the Brooklyn street corner when he was 17.
This freestyle has never been made available to sample, until now, as part of this NFT collection. You can listen to the freestyle and explore some of the NFTs HERE.
Putting fans in the driver's seat of this piece of hip-hop history, all of the Notorious B.I.G. NFT holders will automatically become part of a new Sky's The Limit collective. With the approval and oversight of the collective and Christopher Wallace Estate, musicians can license and include Smalls' freestyle in their own recording, and the song can be released on music streaming services with a "featuring The Notorious B.I.G." credit in the song title.
OneOf is the leading, Quincy Jones-backed platform that's hosted drops with Whitney Houston, Doja Cat, The GRAMMY Awards, eBay, Sports Illustrated, Anheuser Busch and more that's gotten the attention of Rolling Stone, Variety, Hollywood Reporter, Billboard, CNBC, Fast Company, Bloomberg and NPR's Marketplace, but Sky's the Limit is about to break new ground and I'd love for you to cover.
