It’s immediately clear that Vendela has got something special going on, right from the opening, insistent beats of “Hell Yeah.” There’s a chill yet passionate, Billie Eilish-esque quality about her voice—she croons, she wails, she coos, and is always utterly compelling. Like an alt-pop vampire, she leaves the listener exhausted, emotions tattered and torn. On “Komodo,” she says that she’ll “eat your eyes out.” We don’t doubt it. There are pictures on her Instagram of her holding a heart in her hand, which also tracks. The video for “Attaboy” will haunt your dreams, like a wonderful mash-up of Tool and Poppy.
