From Australia, artist Juvahn Victoria embraces hi-tech production effects, including Autotune, on these dark, sexy and often exotic-sounding songs whose spare, reductive arrangements mirror cutting-edge pop. The artist conjures a deep, sensual swirl on “My Way” that goes a long way toward showing her abundant confidence and ambition. Both the lead vocal and the backups are fx’d on “Love Me” along with fluttering flutes and Mid-Eastern touches, all of it adding up to a hypnotic sound. “Escape” impresses us most as Victoria intones about leaving a bad relationship.
