Recordings by rock artist Ania Thomas indicate to us that she's in need of further development. While a song like "Doors Close" has a searing, guitar-driven attack that's topped by a solid solo, "Runaway" is marred by sour chords and lead vocals that stray off key. The whole arrangement sounds ragged and ill-prepared. Clearly, Thomas and her band need to work harder to achieve a chemistry that, at this point, has eluded her. On the upside, her drummer seems to have a firm grip on the music. And having a reliable, hard-hitting time keeper is a blessing. One of our reviewers suggests that Thomas would do well to focus on her strength—guitar shredding—and find a singer to front the band.
