Nettwerk Music Group is excited to announce the signing of producer and Alternative R&B/Soul artist Chris Batson to its worldwide label roster.
At 22-years of age, Los Angeles-based Batson writes poignant and deeply personal lyrics, matched with a vocal soulfulness beyond his years. Drawing from relationships with friends, partners and his own inner conflicts, Batson pens heart-wrenching stories from his dark and unpredictable life experiences, thoughts and emotions. With the ability for provocative lyricism, Batson pairs his words with melodic hooks and instrumentals that unveil an authenticity that is not just refreshing, but also relevant.
Growing up in Florida before moving to Los Angeles, Batson pulls from a diverse list of influences – Donny Hathaway, Marvin Gaye, Nas, Jay-Z, Kings Of Leon and Coldplay, amongst others. According to MTV Buzzworthy, with “a dash of R&B tinged Bon Iver-ish production,” Batson exemplifies his genre-defining style with several standout tracks from We Got Lost Along The Way EP: “Wintertime,” “Never Coming Back,” and “Passenger Seat.”
Last month, Batson released the official music video for “Never Coming Back,” featuring Khleo Thomas. Within its first week, the YouTube views reached 400,000+.
Chris Batson is the latest addition to Nettwerk’s expanding label roster, which includes artists like Passenger, Family Of the Year, BOY, Ladytron, k-os, Peter Murphy, William Fitzsimmons, Boy & Bear and Run River North, as well as catalogue artists like Old Crow Medicine Show, Angus & Julia Stone and fun.
