SONGS Music Publishing announced today that they have signed Nelly, one of music’s most successful rappers, to a worldwide co-publishing deal. The pact encompasses Nelly’s most recent album, 5.0, as well as his future albums, including his highly anticipated new album, M.O., which is slated for release released later this year. Also covered under the new deal is his current international hit single, “Hey Porsche,” his 5 Million plus selling single, “Just A Dream,” as well as his collaboration with Florida Georgia Line on the remix of the Number One country hit, “Cruise,” which is currently the Number 3 single on iTunes.
“Nelly has proven time and time again that he is one of the most consistent hit makers in contemporary music,” said SONGS’ President and head of A&R Ron Perry, who signed Nelly. “He’s a rare artist who has been able to thrive across all genres and radio formats, working with artists who span the musical spectrum, from Tim McGraw to Janet Jackson to Florida Georgia Line.”
Nelly, who burst onto the scene more than a decade ago with his mega-hit “Country Grammar (Hot…),” has sold more than 30 million singles and albums worldwide, making him one of the most successful artists of our time. He has won multiple GRAMMY and American Music Awards, as well as a Billboard Music Award and a BET Award. Nelly has had 13 Number One hits at multiple formats so far during his long career.
SONGS Founder and CEO, Matt Pincus stated: “Having an artist and songwriter of the caliber Nelly join the SONGS family is both a tremendous honor and a big step towards our goal of being the world’s leading contemporary independent music publisher.”
