Nathaniel Rateliff and the Night Sweats drew quite the crowd to Express LIVE! in Columbus, Ohio. Based in Denver, Colorado, Rateliff is known for his folk-rock-blues tunes. Originally a solo artist, he has been working with bandmates, dubbed “The Night Sweats,” since 2013. Together, they took the scene by storm releasing hit “S.O.B.” in 2015 and making it all the way to stages at Austin City Limits, The Tonight Show Starring Jimmy Fallon, and Saturday Night Live. From college kids to old rockers, the place was packed. It was said more than once that this was “my first concert since COVID.”
The show began with an incredible set by friend of the band, Margo Price. Her country style had the pit boppin’ along and even got the lawn-blanket-dwellers on their feet. Around 9:15pm, Nathaniel Rateliff and the Night Sweats stepped onto the stage with their song, “Shoe Boot.” They took the crowd on a journey through Americana music with tracks like “You Worry Me,” “I Need Never Get Old,” and “Howling at Nothing.”
Ahead of the release of their next album, they played their two singles, “Survivor” and “Love Don’t.” The stamina of the entire band was incredible. They were just as tuned in by the encore as they were at the start. With such a vast group of musicians all on one stage, the show was a spectacular display of the real talent that Rateliff and the Night Sweats bring to the table. Nathaniel Rateliff and the Night Sweat’s new album “the future” is out on November 5th.
