It figures that outsider film directors such as David Lynch and Tim Burton would express their divine affinity for the surrealistic psych Goth of the Veils––a knack for the delightfully disturbing (or perhaps the disturbingly delightful) is their common thread.
But like their cinematic counterparts, the Veils sacrifice consistent, overall quality in favor of obtuse, uncompromising originality, transforming their velvety, glow-in-the-dark arrangements into zany science experiments, even when they should be emotional firecrackers. Listen with lights low and expectations discarded.
