On Sept. 4, 2013, Los Angeles-based band, Before the Mourning, hosted and headlined a benefit show at The Roxy Theater to "bring [people] together, celebrate life and raise awareness to driving under the influence." Joining Before the Mourning in performing were Enrot, VATTICA and Conflict of Interest.
Before the Mourning frontman and vocalist, Adam Ryan, created the event on behalf of his sister and her boyfriend who were both injured from being hit by a drunk driver and are currently recovering in the hospital.
Says Ryan, "Another reason I created this event is because I live 2,000 miles from home and it's very difficult to see my family all the time. I knew that my biggest way to try and help was to use my profession to help the ones I love. Music has this amazing way to unite humanity and show that we're not all monsters. That night [Sept. 4, 2013] proved this point perfectly. The final turn out when we hit the stage was amazing, and the donations made by the event goers was above and beyond. All in all, it was success and I hope its message and meaning continues on for a while to come..."
