Having been charged with a lack of focus by the listening public, this incarnation of Brighton’s Kooks sees them overcorrect, for better or worse. Depending on one’s perspective, they’ve either honed their pop/rock mission to spread gratifying, incessantly hummable grooves or forgotten there’s beauty in coloring outside the lines. The upside is that they’ve carved a holistic package stuffed with memorable hooks that earns a silo’s worth of toe taps.
