Jon Muq Can't Do Without His E20P Eastman Guitar

Austin-based Ugandan artist Jon Muq told us about his love for his E20P Eastman.

Jon Muq: The one instrument I can't do without is my E20P Eastman guitar.

I discovered this guitar when I was 15 years old while living in Uganda. It was the first time seeing that instrument in person and I was intrigued. Since then, I have worked hard to learn how to use it to create, speak, perform, and present music. It's so special because I feel like I am so connected to it..

This was my first instrument I bought for myself in 2018 (it was used when I got it) because it was the only instrument I could afford at the time. Since it's a polar style, it kinda sounded different to me but the more I got accustomed to playing it, I got used to the tone and I have played that ever since. The more it ages, the better it sounds.

The connection between the guitar and my songs is so great that it's almost as if we are bonded. When I am writing a song, it's almost as if two people are singing .

I often call it my best friend because I drew eyes on it. It's a happy guitar that reminds me to always be happy as long as I have it! That makes it one thing I can't do without

Jon Muq's album Flying Away is out now.
