Jenny Parrott Can't Do Without Her Suzuki OM-27

Austin experimental folk artist Jenny Parrott told us about her love for her Suzuki OM-27.

Jenny Parrott: The Omnichord I use is a Suzuki OM-27. It was a birthday gift from my husband in June 2021, and I instantly fell in love. All the songs I’d written on piano or guitar sounded like they had new life, new possibilities! I had a tour booked the following month and worked to re-arrange the set to accommodate my new friend.

I am really into the harp aspect, which is the gold vertical bar to the right of the “keys”. When you turn off all the drums and bass, and just play the harp, it sounds just like the turn of the century auto harps used in spiritual, blues and folk music. I am deeply inspired by Washington Phillips singing, playing, and writing and tried to draw from some of his magic while I was recording.

Jenny Parrott's album Love Spell is out now.
