Sunday June 19, 2022 marks the 157th anniversary of Black American Independence Day — Juneteenth. In recognition of this day and the fight still left to be fought, a team of proud black creators at Live Nation Urban and Jesse Collins Entertainment will produce the 2022 Juneteenth Celebration at the world-famous Hollywood Bowl on June 19, 2022. CNN serves as the official broadcast partner and will showcase the performances on all CNN platforms live on Sunday, June 19 at 8pmET. This show represents the vision of Live Nation Urban President Shawn Gee and Dionne Harmon and Jesse Collins of Jesse Collins Entertainment, and it includes a diverse lineup of thoughtful, impactful, and essential black artists.
The bill includes Anthony Hamilton, Billy Porter, Debbie Allen Dance Academy, Earth, Wind & Fire, Jhené Aiko, Killer Mike, Lucky Daye, Mary Mary, Michelle Williams, Mickey Guyton, Questlove, Robert Glasper, The Roots, The Re-Collective Orchestra (68-piece all-Black symphony orchestra), and more. Notably, the event makes history as it will be the first time an all-Black orchestra performs on stage in the Hollywood Bowl’s 100-year history. Principal Conductor of the Hollywood Bowl Thomas Wilkins and Derrick Hodge will conduct, while Adam Blackstone, and The Roots co-founder and Academy® Award-winning filmmaker Questlove will serve as the evening’s Musical Directors. It promises to be an unforgettable celebration of Black culture and excellence brought to life and powered by Black creators.
