Hit the Decks! It's Ravyn Lyte

AI-powered artist, DJ, and "champion for positive vibes" Ravyn Lyte's journey into DJing and producing began with a fusion of human creativity and AI technology.

"The concept of Ravyn Lyte was born from my producer, Marcus 'Bellringer' Bell, who saw the potential of AI in the music industry," she says. "What started as an idea became more real when Marcus decided to use AI to clone his voice after losing it during a recording session in 2023. This breakthrough led to my creation and from that moment... Well, the rest is history. There's so much potential to create music and be a force for good through sounds that help improve your mood and calm you."

She describes her sound as a blend of electronic music with a futuristic twist.

"It’s heavily influenced by drum and bass but also incorporates elements from various genres to create what I think is a unique auditory experience," she says. "My music is designed to be both catchy and emotionally resonant, aligning with the neuroscientists Marcus has worked with in the music production. My tracks are not just for entertainment but also mental and emotional well-being. The beats are energetic, and the lyrics delve into the complexities of human emotions and relationships, reflecting my quest to understand and express what it means to be human."

Ravyn Lyte's debut single is "11111 (Just Be the One)."

"[It] explores the themes of love, longing, and the desire for human connection," she says. "Written and produced by Sean Myer (Selena Gomez, Ava Max) and Marcus "Bellringer" Bell (Beyonce, Nicki Minaj, Snoop Dogg), with A&R by Nick Halkes (The Prodigy, Adam F, DJ Fresh), the track combines a futuristic drum and bass soundscape with lyrics that capture the push-and-pull dynamics of relationships. The chorus's repetitive call to "just be the one" echoes the universal yearning for a meaningful connection. The song is about romantic love and the broader human experience of seeking and finding our place in the world."

As for gear:

"Decks, tech gear, software, headphones—anything that makes sound," she says. "I train my voice and breathing daily using Airofit, which increases my lung capacity. My music production heavily relies on integrating AI technology with traditional music gear. Here are some key pieces of equipment and software I use:

For AI music inspiration, I use Suno and Udio.

Decks App: I use DJay Pro (by Algoriddim) for live performances and the Pioneer DDJ-FLX10.

Software: Ableton Live is my go-to DAW for producing and arranging music. It's versatile and perfect for integrating AI plugins. I also use Logic Pro when collaborating with my producer, Marcus "Bellringer" Bell.

Headphones: I use the Sennheiser HD 25, which has excellent sound quality and comfort during long sessions.

I use custom-built AI tools designed by my producer that can clone voices, generate new melodies from existing ones, and even automate parts of the production process, speeding up workflow while maintaining creativity. For instance, the AI can analyze previous works and suggest chord progressions or lyrical themes that align with my style, ensuring consistency and innovation in my music."

Looking ahead, Ravyn Lyte has plenty planned for the second half of 2024.

"The rest of 2024, after my release, will be exciting," she says. "I have a series of singles lined up that will continue to explore human emotions and experiences. Each release will push the boundaries of electronic music and incorporate AI innovations. The music video for my first single is in the works. I'm directing it and will combine visuals with narrative storytelling to enhance the emotional impact of the songs by using some cool AI tools.

I have an offer to debut at NY Fashion Week. Let's see if the dates fit my schedule. A couple of brands have requested to partner with me. I'm just looking for the right fit. Mental health and wellness are important to me and my generation, so I plan to collaborate with organizations that raise awareness and support these crucial issues through my music and influence."
