Egyptian-born, San Francisco-based DJ and entrepreneurial entertainment executive Moody Jones started making mixtapes when he was about 13 years old, using a collection of his fav Disney records.
"In college I started making sets using apps, and then when I was 19 my younger brother actually bought our first pair of CDJs," Jones says. "It brought us closer together and we played our first show a month later as a duo called CURLS (we both have curly hair)."
He describes his sound today as, "You had a wild night out, you barely slept, you’re crushing it at work and you’re at the gym off a Celsius and you’re feeling unstoppable half way through a workout…. But seriously– 'it’s a good day today.'"
His latest release is the If You Feel It EP.
"I been going back to my '90s pop era and trying to combine boy band vibes with high bpm house music," he says. "It’s positive, feel good, emotional, '90s ballad house."
As for gear: "The essentials are: AIAIAI TM1 earphones, Samsung 1TB USBs, Jacques Mari Mage shades - the rest can be as little as my iPad Pro and as much as our entire EMPIRE studio complex."
Looking ahead, Jones has much planned for the coming months.
"Two more singles, one more video a bunch of shows including ADE, Halloween with Kaytranada, New years with Discolines, BPM festival and more. We don’t sleep baby!"
