Los Angeles-based producer and DJ Marie Vaunt started DJing in 2001 and got into producing in 2006.
"From the very beginning, I treated this as more than a hobby, it was my dream to share my music and tour the world," she says. "The Marie Vaunt project started in 2018, which took things to another level."
Vaunt describes the sound as, "Acid techno with lots of energy and a dark twist!"
Her latest release is the Secrets EP.
"I recently released an EP called Secrets on Eli Brown’s label, Arcane Music," she says. "Coming up next, I have a track called 'Kiss My Acid' dropping on my own label, Kurai Records, on February 14th. It’s high-energy with a lot of attitude, and I’m really excited to share it."
As for gear: "I use the TD-3 for my signature acid sound, paired with either an MXR or Rat pedal, depending on the tone I want," she says. "For production, I work in Studio One, my go-to headphones are from a Japanese brand called LayficTone which is owned by a friend, and my monitors are the PreSonus R80 V2. There’s a lot more gear in my studio, but those are the essentials!"
Looking ahead, Vaunt has plenty planned for 2025.
"I’ve got a lot planned," she says. "There are several releases coming out on Kurai Records that I’m really proud of. I’ll also be performing at EDC Vegas and Dreamstate SF, two events I’m super stoked about. It’s gonna be an amazing year!"
