Hit the Decks! It's Blastoyz

Revered trance artist Blastoyz started exploring music production at age nine, inspired by his love for psytrance and his bigger brother, who was also a DJ and producer.

"By age of 13, I started DJing at small village events and birthdays, and by 16, I was playing at underground open-air psytrance parties even before I could drive," he says. "I remember playing also during high school in graduation parties. Things got serious in my early 20s when tracks like 'Parvati Valley’ and ‘Mandala’ gained traction in the psytrance scene. That’s when I realized music wasn’t just a passion - it was my life."

He describes the Blastoyz sound as a mix of powerful psytrance, hard-hitting drops with groovy basslines and exciting melodies.

"It’s all about creating a journey, a blend of emotion, energy, and the right groove," he says. "I like to keep it fresh by infusing unique soundscapes, ethnic instruments, and experimental elements that make my tracks stand out on the dancefloor."

Blastoyz's latest release is "Lift Me Up", in collaboration with the legendary Moby.

"Together with my friend Berg, we’ve reimagined this timeless 2005 classic, infusing it with our twist," he says. "This version is super special, as it blends our signature psytrance energy with unexpected melodic techno elements. The response so far has been phenomenal, it’s been incredible to see people connect with it in such a good way."

As for gear: "For production, I use Cubase, since I was 16, which is very common to most of the psytrance producers, and I have no idea why to be honest. I rely heavily on plugins like Serum and Sylenth1 for designing my sounds. I have Access Virus Ti and I use Loopcloud for online samples, it also helps sometimes to get inspiration and flow."

Looking ahead, Blastoyz has plenty planned for 2025.

"I have new singles on the way, including collaborations with artists like Seven Lions which I really love working with and Ophelia Records artists," he says. "I’m also planning my debut album for June 2025 to release on my Birthday, sort of closing a circle for the tracks that shaped me over the past decade as Blastoyz. Alongside these releases, I’ll be touring across the USA, South America, Europe, and Asia, in the next few months. I love sharing my music and connecting with my fans around the world."
