Hit the Decks! It's Ben Gold

Hailing from London and now based in Amsterdam, trance artist Ben Gold started DJing when he was 15.

"When I was 16, I went on vacation to Ibiza with a friend and his family," he says. "Even though I wasn’t old enough to get into the clubs, I got to see Pete Tong, Carl Cox, and Judge Jules DJ at Mambo. That experience had me completely hooked on the idea of becoming a professional DJ."

Gold describes his sound as, "High Energy Trance with memorable riffs and melodic storytelling on top of powerful driving beats."

His latest release is the "How You Feelin'" track.

"I had just moved into a new house in the Netherlands when I wrote the riff for How You Feelin’—right in my living room, since my studio wouldn’t be ready for a few months," he says. "I had a really good feeling about it from the start. A few weeks later, I set up a temporary studio in the spare room and got back to work on it. The track came together quickly because I knew exactly how I wanted it to sound. Then, just when I thought it was finished, I found the vocal—and that was the icing on the cake."

As for gear: "In the studio, I’ve been using my Roland JP-8000 a lot. I love its iconic Super Saw oscillator, the punchy, fat filter, and its overall unique sonic character. Some of my unreleased tracks were made entirely with the JP-8000, which just shows how legendary its sound really is."

Looking ahead, Gold has plenty planned for 2025.

"2025 I will release a lot of music," he says. "My release schedule is fixed for the next 14 months with a new record every 4 weeks or so."

Ben Gold's "How You Feelin'" is out March 14.
