“I’m baaaack,” Harry Styles exclaimed as he opened his "One Night Only" album release show for his sophomore album Fine Line at the Forum in Inglewood, CA on Dec. 13. The former One Directioner has become one of the biggest solo artists in the biz, so it was a no-brainer that the show sold-out in seconds and legions of fan lined up hours in advance for a good spot in the pit. Fine Line is Styles' most intimate album to date. Songs deal with his breakup with French-American model Camille Rowe (“Cherry”) and takes influence from classic rock acts like Fleetwood Mac ("Golden").
To honor the new album, Styles replicated his outfit from the album cover, wearing a bright pink shirt and high-waisted flared white pants and, as expected, sung Fine Line in its entirety live for the first time. Styles was in high spirits and very cheeky with the audience. After he performed "To Be So Lonely," Styles endearingly teased the audience "Why when I sang I was an 'arrogant son of a b----,' you sang the loudest?" Then playfully insisted "See, I'm fun," when he was making silly noises during "Sunflower, Vol. 6."
It wouldn't be a one night only show without a few surprises. After singing the 12-songs from Fine Line, Styles went back to his roots by singing his first solo hit "Sign of the Times" and from his boy band days with One Direction, "What Makes You Beautiful." The crowd went wild when he brought out one of his inspirations for the album, singer Stevie Nicks, onstage for a duet of Fleetwood Mac's "Landslide." In celebration of the holiday season, Styles then covered Paul McCartney's "Wonderful Christmastime" and had the whole venue cheerfully singing along.
Styles recently announced a 2020 world tour, “Love On Tour,” in support of Fine Line. The extensive run of shows will begin in April in the UK and will travel across Europe and North America before concluding in Mexico in October. Joining Harry across the world are up-and-coming Pop act King Princess in Europe (April 15 – May 31), singer/songwriter Jenny Lewis in the US and Canada (June 26 – Sept. 5), and Jamaican Reggae singer Koffee in Mexico (Sept. 29 – Oct. 3).
