Halestorm and I Prevail kicked off their co-headlining summer tour this week in Raleigh, NC, at the Coastal Credit Union Music Park. Special guests Hollywood Undead and Fit for a King provided opening support and will perform at every show on this two-month North American run. The tour will wrap up on August 17 in Las Vegas.
Halestorm, known for their powerful performances and having won two Grammy Awards, brought their signature energy to the stage. Lzzy Hale, frontwoman of Halestorm, shared in a post on the band’s Instagram page:
“This isn’t your typical summer tour. This is two worlds colliding under one haven for our collective armies. And bringing you a show unlike any we’ve done before! We have a lot of surprises in store.”
One of those surprises was the live debut performance of Halestorm and I Prevail’s latest single, “Can U See Me in the Dark?”, which was released last month on June 6, 2024. Lzzy Hale joined I Prevail during the sixth song of their set to help perform this energetic and upbeat hit.
Eric Vanlerberghe of I Prevail mentioned:
“We're excited to finally have a song out. It was a fun challenge to blend the Halestorm and I Prevail sounds together. We really focused on creating a music bed that felt very much I Prevail and letting Lzzy just shine and do what she does best. I feel we found a very sick way to blend the two identities of our bands into one massive song.”
Halestorm and I Prevail’s new single is the latest rock/metal collaboration to hit the airwaves. There appears to be a collaboration trend happening in the scene recently, and fans of both bands couldn’t be happier. Other recent collaborations include Babymetal and Electric Callboy’s new song “Ratatata,” and Falling In Reverse and Jelly Roll’s release “All My Life,” which is another track worth checking out if you haven’t already. It seems to be the summer for heavy-hitting collabs.
While I won’t give away too many details about the show, another surprise of the evening was when I Prevail played their viral internet cover of Taylor Swift’s “Blank Space.” Despite the song's pop origins, their rendition was heavy.
I Prevail’s setlist was dominated by eight songs from their 2022 album True Power, as well as three songs from their 2018 album TRAUMA, which famously earned the group two Grammy nominations. The two-song encore featured “Hurricane” and “Gasoline.”
Halestorm’s setlist included four tracks from their second full-length album, The Strange Case Of…, and delivered as expected. The band closed out with a more recent song, “The Steeple,” from their 2022 album Back from the Dead.
The co-headlining tour of Halestorm and I Prevail offers fans a unique blend of both bands' styles, exciting collaborations, and memorable performances. With special guests Hollywood Undead and Fit for a King, this tour is a must-see event for rock and metal enthusiasts this summer.
