Ten-Time Grammy Winner George Benson played the Saban Theatre last night, September 23.
During Benson’s career lasting over six decades he has released more than 30 studio albums of which 14 went to number 1 on the U.S. Jazz chart. Benson has released over 70 singles and in addition to his music as a solo artist has worked with Rod Stewart, B.B. King, Al Jarreau, Frank Sinatra, Benny Goodman, Aretha Franklin, and many more.
Benson’s set was full of hits like “Breezin,” “On Broadway,” “This Masquerade,” and “Give Me the Night.”
Benson is just two years away from 80 and not only looks great but sounds great and hasn’t aged a bit. Benson is certainly known for his great guitar skills but a few times throughout the night put his guitar down and performed more like a frontman.
Benson has two more shows booked for this year which are Newport Beach, CA tonight and Monterey, CA on Sunday. Benson has dates lined up for 2022 across the U.K., France, and Australia. Benson’s latest release came out last year which was a live album recorded at the legendary Ronnie Scott’s Jazz Club in London.
