Foo Fighters' Cal Jam ’18 is right around the corner, and to celebrate the impending all-day rock fest being held on Oct. 5-6 at San Bernardino’s Glen Helen Regional Park, they've announced a free all-ages Pop-Up event at the Hollywood Palladium taking place Sunday, August 26 from 3 p.m. to 7 p.m.
The tailgate party will feature Taylor Hawkins’ cover band, Chevy Metal, and a special performance by the band, The Holy Shits; Foo Fighters have used the ‘holy-shit-that’s-awesome' moniker before to perform at many secret gigs.
As a special offer only available in person at the Pop-Up event, attendees will be able to purchase the newly announced General Admission Lawn Only tickets for $49 with no service fees courtesy of Harley-Davidson. These tickets will give fans admittance into Cal Jam '18 for Saturday's 12-hour rock extravaganza, access to the Main Stage Lawn area, the Sun and Mountain stages, carnival rides, and general parking.
Pop-Up guests will also enjoy food, drinks, exclusive merch deals, photo ops with Foo Fighters’ white limo and the throne Dave Grohl used on tour after breaking his leg in 2015.
Promoted by Live Nation, last year's inaugural Cal Jam '17 festival was the beginning of the Foo Fighters' Concrete and Gold Tour, in support of their ninth studio album, Concrete and Gold. The second incarnation of the rock-focused "live music backyard party" brings this full circle as Cal Jam '18 will be the tour’s final show in the Los Angeles area.
Joining the 12-time Grammy award-winning rock band at this year’s fest will be the legendary Iggy Pop in a one-off reunion with his all-star Post-Pop Depression band; Queens of The Stone Age’s Joshua Homme, Troy Van Leeuwin, Dean Ferita, along with Arctic Monkeys’ drummer Matt Helders. Other notable acts include Tenacious D, Garbage, Greta Van Fleet, Silversun Pickups, Manchester Orchestra, Krist Novoselic's new band, Giant in The Trees, Slaves (UK), Gang of Youths, The Front Bottoms, Black Mountain, Deer Tick, and more. Check out the full 2018 lineup here.
Cal Jam '18 will offer a vendor village, curated food trucks, traditional festival food, games, carnival rides, a water park with twin waterslides, Rock 'n' Roll Museum, pop-up record shop as well as this year’s addition of a comedy stage. The full comedy lineup will be announced soon.
Even though Cal Jam '18 is a one-day fest, on-site camping will be available on Friday night, in either a tent, car or RV. Over-niters will enjoy a Friday-only kick-off party performance by 80's punk legend Billy Idol, comedian Bridget Everett, Mexico City’s Mexrrissey, Cosmic Kahuna, and more.
Friday night campers will also have access to the water park, outdoor midnight movies, the newly christened Friday Night Comedy Tent curated by comedian Tim Hanlon, carnival rides, Rock 'n' Roll Museum, and the pièce de résistance—delicious cold beer!
Cal Jam '18 is a celebration of eating, drinking and rocking. Visit the festival’s website for details and ticket purchases.
