Folk Alliance International's 29th Conference has applications open for artists to perform among the best of the international folk music community on Feb. 15 - 19, 2017. Application deadline is Oct. 3. Artists chosen have the opportunity to perform for hundreds of festivals, venue bookers, agents, managers, media and music industry reps that attend the world's largest gathering of the folk music industry. Two hundred jury-selected nightly concerts feature emerging artists and touring legends from around the world. Official showcases are 30 minutes in length, held concurrently in nine ballrooms throughout the host hotel.
Folk Alliance International's annual event draws 2500 registrants from 20 countries to Kansas City and is known for its community atmosphere, business-networking opportunities and as an industry hotspot for new talent discovery. The theme for the 2017 conference is Forbidden Folk, which is a celebration of activism in art and will feature Billy Bragg as the Keynote speaker.
