Conscious Alliance and Be Interactive have announced an effort to support hunger relief in the community of Flint, MI at Bassnectar's Freakstyle 2019 event, a three-day show Oct. 31 - Nov. 2 in Grand Rapids, MI with a food drive.
The organizations aim to send 35,000 meals to Flint, MI, in this Halloween-themed 'Flint Brain Food Drive', which will kick off Conscious Alliance's November End Childhood Hunger campaign.
After Freakstyle, Conscious Alliance and Be Interactive will hit the road from Grand Rapids to deliver donations to the Food Bank of Eastern Michigan in Flint. Arriving along with show donations will be an additional semi-truck filled with the other half of the equation—30,000 nutritious meals, and as much drinking water as will fit.
"Years after the Flint Water Crisis, despite heroic activism and resilience in the city, lasting challenges remain. Bassnectar fans asked us to come together around the water crisis, and the opportunity is finally here." says Lia Holland, Executive Director of Be Interactive. "Among their needs, this community lists food and water, and we are grateful to the inspiring kids and families of Flint for graciously welcoming our donation."
"We're asking Bassnectar fans to select special, extra healthy & fun foods for their donations, things that kids will be excited to eat," Levy adds. "We hope everyone will bring something, and for those who bring a lot, we have the Freakstyle Lunchbox as a gift."
Those who donate 20 non-perishable food items or make a suggested cash donation to the Flint Brain Food Drive will receive a limited-edition Bassnectar Freakstyle 2019 lunchbox, decorated with art by Tyler Nally and Nathaniel Deas.
Suggestions of what to donate, and more information on the food drive, is available at beinteractivehq.org/now/flint-brain-food-drive.
