It could've been the late '70s, sitting in a parked car with my high school friends listening to the newest song on the radio by Fleetwood Mac, but it wasn't. Instead, fast forward to the Bridgestone Arena in Nashville for Fleetwood Mac’s 2019 tour. Fans packed the arena to get a glimpse of the Queen of Rock, Stevie Nicks and the impeccable band. Draped in her signature mystical garb, Stevie and band opened with “The Chain” and it just got better from there. The band comprised of Christine McVie, Stevie Nicks, Neil Finn, Mick Fleetwood, John McVie, and Mike Campbell took us on a trippy ride with music from 1967 to 2019. The vocals and instrumentals were rich accompanied by a wild drum solo by Mick Fleetwood. The sounds were surreal, dreamy and heart-pounding mixed with mind-bending visuals across the stage screens.
Although Fleetwood Mac frontman Lindsey Buckingham and the band recently parted ways, two great musicians are filling and mending the void. Mike Campbell (Tom Petty and the Heartbreakers) and Neil Finn (Crowded House) on guitar and vocals, have transitioned the band to an easy vibe. Throughout the show, fans and the band sang favorites such as "Gold Dust Woman," "Second Hand News" and "Rhiannon." As an encore Stevie Nicks and the band paid tribute to dear friend and Mike Campbell's bandmate, Tom Petty, with an emotional rendition of “Free Fallin.” As the band and audience sang, photos of Tom and friends flashed across the screen. I don't believe there was a dry eye in the arena as we all celebrated his life. Ending with, "All Over Again", fans screamed and reached for the stage in absolute love of Fleetwood Mac. It was truly an honor to witness such musical legends. Make sure you do not miss Fleetwood Mac on their 2019 U.S. tour! You'll be sharing these memories for years to come.
