Blag Dahlia of notorious and glorious punk rock reprobates Dwarves told us about his love for his Big Muff.
Blag Dahlia: I’m Blag the Ripper, rock legend and the best looking man in show business.
The Big Muff is more than just the silliest name in ancient electronics, it’s practically a way of life. You can use it to give added crack to a snare, or bus a vocal channel to it and add instant dirty compression to your vocals. You can even play an actual guitar through it and create that classic pre-distortion sound that defined mid sixties fuzztone.
There are lots of variations, too, like the Super Fuzz Big Muff, the Little Muff and on and on. There are even countless bootlegs, among them the Russian Big Muff which might invade your other effects boxes if you’re not careful. I love and cherish my Big Muff, which is why I can’t find it right now to take a picture of it.
To sum up: the Big Muff is a dirty box, and the Dwarves are slobbering for it!
Dwarves LP Sunshine, Lollipops & Rainbows is out April 12.
