Doom Flamingo at TELEFUNKEN "Live From the Lab"

Powerhouse synth-rock band Doom Flamingo recently filmed a series of exclusive videos at the TELEFUNKEN Soundstage in the Connecticut company headquarters. The band is a soulful sextet with a shape-shifting twist to their songwriting. Powerful guitar riffs and a laidback style combine with haunting soundscapes like classic sci-fi films. Hailing from Charleston, South Carolina, the band features searing vocals with otherworldly instrumentation.

TELEFUNKEN is returning to the NAMM Show in Anaheim, CA, from January 23 - 25. Visit Booth #14511 to explore the complete product line, including microphones from the Diamond, Alchemy, Small Diaphragm and Dynamic Series.

Band manager and spokesperson Bryan Austin commented on the performance, "It was a real treat recording this session for 'Live From the Lab' and to see the inner workings of Telefunken. Their founder Toni Fishman was a voracious listener and archivist who meticulously collected vintage microphones, amplifiers, consoles and recordings. The company is now faithfully restoring and preserving vintage gear and using it as a template for new hardware. The band was able to revisit their new 'Measurements' EP on a gorgeous soundstage through worldclass microphones run through an array of vintage amps."

The entire LIVE FROM THE LAB music video series is tracked live with an array of TELEFUNKEN microphones and feature performances from a variety of local, regional, national, and international artists and ensembles.

Guitarist, Thomas Kenney commented, "Getting to record in the Telefunken studio was an awesome experience. Making music surrounded by this history, the gear, and the professionals running the operation was as good as it gets. Seeing behind-the-scenes work in the production facility was beyond cool."

Keyboardist Ross Bogan added, "It was a real honor to be invited to Telefunken HQ to record our songs. So many historic records and performances started with their technical ingenuity. They gave us a full tour and I was blown away at the precision and care that goes into making their mics. They also celebrate Croc Friday!"

Doom flamingo was formed in 2018 when their bassist was looking for an after-party act for his other band, Umphrey's McGee and helped assemble a cast of Charleston's best jazz-jam-funk musicians, including Kanika Moore, keyboardist Ross Bogan, and guitarist Thomas Kenney. After the tracking session, vocalist Kanika Moore said, "I had no idea what we'd be getting into for this session. Thanks to our team and Telefunken, I had one of the most amazing live studio recordings I've experienced with Doom Flamingo. Not only were we given a tour, I was also gifted my first custom mic in flamingo pink. My experience with this mic has just begun, but I've been taking it everywhere. It's a great mic and it's cute. What else could I ask for?"
