Coheed and Cambria stopped by Oakland's Fox Theatre last Friday to honor the 12-year anniversary of the band's third full length Good Apollo, I'm Burning Star IV, Volume One: From Fear Through the Eyes of Madness. The night's only opening act, the Dear Hunter, wasted no time showing why they were chosen as the crowd's warm up entertainment.
Focusing primarily on their more progressive-indie tracks, the band performed songs spanning much of their catalog (including both the COLOR SPECTRUM and ACTS I - V). Frontman Casey Crescenzo only broke from performance once to express gratitude to both the fans and Coheed before unleashing their final song of a 45-minute set, "This Body." And while much of the crowd already knew the Dear Hunter's work, eager Coheed and Cambria fans seemed to forget, if only for a moment, why they came--and fully embraced Crescenzo and company. The band received a roaring ovation as they departed the stage.
