Casio Awards Winner of 2014 Unsigned Only Music Competition

Casio America, Inc. has awarded the 2014 Unsigned Only Competition’s Grand Prize winner, Goodbye June – a Southern rock band with a contemporary twist – a variety of electronic musical instruments including digital pianos, portable keyboards and a synthesizer. The Unsigned Only Music Competition gives solo acts and bands not signed to major labels a chance to obtain recognition for their hard work. Approximately 8,000 artists and bands all competed for the $10,000 and its various rewards. Winners were selected by renowned recording artists and journalists from top music publications.

“Casio is excited to offer the grand prize winner of the Unsigned Only Music Competition a number of quality, professional digital pianos and keyboards,” said Stephen Schmidt, vice president of Casio’s Electronic Musical Instrument division. “Goodbye June is extremely talented and we look forward to their growth and continued success within the music industry.”

As part of Casio’s Grand Prize package, Goodbye June will receive the award-winning Privia Pro PX-5S and Celviano AP-450 digital pianos, as well as the LK-280 portable lighted keys keyboard and the CTK-3200 portable keyboard. In addition, Goodbye June will also receive the Casio XW-P1 Performance synthesizer.

"We feel very blessed to have been selected as the Unsigned Only winners. A huge thanks to Casio for providing us with some tools to help us create some more rock 'n roll," said Goodbye June.

Goodbye June’s music showcases their individual and collective talents, as well as their grit and soul. The three cousins who comprise Goodbye June believe that the key to their success is their openness and honesty with each other and this has contributed to how their sound was created. Formed after the death of the guitarist’s brother, the band used music as an emotional release and it became a big part of the healing process for them.

Goodbye June’s debut album “Nor the Wild Music Flow” was released in 2012, alongside their debut music video "Microscope" featuring St. Louis Rams head coach Jeff Fisher and country star Steve Holy. In the fall of 2013, the band embarked on a 6-week European tour through Germany, Sweden, Finland, Netherlands, Belgium, France, and Spain. The band is currently finishing up their yet-to-be-titled sophomore album.
