R&B futurist Berhana recently teamed up with after-school program Notes For Notes in his native Atlanta to raise awareness about arts programs in schools. In collaboration with State Farm and VICE, he spoke candidly about his first-generation upbringing in the states with Ethiopian immigrant parents, carving out a space for himself in music, and the importance of music education.
Last year, Berhana released his debut album HAN landing on several year-end lists and garnering comparisons to David Bowie and Prince for "the easy coolness of his alt-R&B" (New Yorker) and "funky" (NPR Music) genre-defiant sound.
