Focusrite went to Riverside Studios in Berlin to record noted jazz musician Olivia Trummer and her band with three of the Thunderbolt audio interfaces: the Apogee Ensemble, the UAD Apollo 8p, and the Clarett 8PreX.
Engineer/producer Oliver Laib--a jazz pianist himself--set the three units up carefully for a level playing field on both record and playback, and a couple of respected studio professionals were invited to listen to the results without knowing which interface was which.
They chose the Clarett 8PreX as the best-sounding Thunderbolt audio interface of the three. Find out more about what they said and how it all sounded in the video.
