ASCAP Experience to host K-Pop Up-and-Comers in Honor of AAPI Heritage Month, “Seoul Music: Amber Liu & Justin Park in Conversation”
5/11 @ 3PM ET/12PM PT | IG Live

On Wednesday, May 11th, at 3pm ET, Amber Liu and Justin Park will speak on their careers in K-Pop for the next ASCAP Experience panel in honor of AAPI Heritage month.
Liu and Park are both Los Angeles natives, but their music careers have bridged Asian and American cultures from the beginning. As a member of the beloved electropop group f(x), Liu (a Taiwanese-American) is certified K-pop royalty; since going solo in 2015, she’s extended her international reach by releasing music in Korean, English and Mandarin. Park, a Korean-American, is a rising singer-songwriter with an adoring fanbase (including BTS’s Jungkook) who’s now making a name for himself in the US and Korea with his soulful brand of pop/R&B.
In this fascinating IG Live, the two friends and collaborators will explore what it means to be an AAPI music creator on the world’s stage. They’ll talk about how their identities have shaped their music, and reveal the joys and challenges of finding an audience on both sides of the Pacific.
You can also listen to ASCAP’s special AAPI playlist and check out @ascap social media for exclusive videos from ASCAP members talking about their AAPI heritage and creativity.
