All star producer/guitarist/vocalist Andrew Watt (Ozzy Osbourne/Rolling Stones/Pearl Jam) and Red Hot Chili Peppers drummer Chad Smith played the Brooklyn Bowl (Brooklyn, NY) Wednesday night (9/18). The show was announced just a week prior. Together Smith and Watt are part of Eddie Vedder’s Earthlings and Iggy Pop’s Losers. The show began at 11 P.M. and went until 1:30 A.M. featuring around 30 covers, most which were classic rock and a few very special guests.
The band consisted of guitarist GE Smith (SNL/ Hall & Oates), Ivan Bodley - bass, Ben Stivers - keyboards, Crispin Cioe - sax, Bob Funk - Trombone, Seneca Black - Trumpet, and Jared Tankel - Baritone sax. Legendary photographer Danny Clinch played harmonica on a few songs.
The first guest of the night was none other than Tonight Show host Jimmy Fallon whose birthday was the following day so a cake was brought out. Following Fallon would be The Roots’ Black Thought, Charlotte Lawrence, Robert Randolph, and the Black Crowes Chris Robinson. Smith did a drum solo with Led Zeppelin’s (John Bonham) “Moby Dick.”
