This Swedish supergroup is back with a sophomore release that picks up right where their 2022 debut left off—reminding fans of what made early 2000s death metal so damn great. While Mikael Stanne’s vocals are front and center, it’s really the guitar work of Jesper Strömblad and Daniel Svensson that keep this record moving. Standouts include “Detonate,” “Our Channel to the Darkness,” and “What We Become.” While the record differentiates itself enough from its predecessor, it could have been a perfect album with the reduction of slower tracks and their clean vocals. Either way, we finally have a supergroup that finally exceeds expectations.
