Navigating the ins and outs of music supervision and how best to get paid, the Association of Independent Music Producers’ (AIMP) Los Angeles Chapter held their live panel “Music Supervision: Art for Art’s Sake, Money for God’s Sake!” over lunch at Lawry’s the Prime Rib in Beverly Hills. Moderated by Mike Todd (AVP, Film & TV Music / Visual Media, ASCAP), panelists Matt Lilley (President of MCL Music Supervision), Garrett McElver (Director of Film Music at Universal Pictures), Frankie Pine (President of Whirly Girl Music), and Tony Von Pervieux (Music Supervisor at TVPmusic) shared their insights and perspectives on monetization, placement politics, how best to get your music seen and heard, and the potential impact of AI tech on music supervision.

"This event provided a wonderful opportunity to discuss the evolving landscape of music supervision in the television and film industries, especially in light of last year's labor strikes,” shares AIMP LA President, Marc Caruso (CEO & Co-Founder of Angry Mob Music). “Our accomplished panelists shared a wealth of experiences and information on how collaboration between music supervisors, publishers, and studios have, and will continue, to lead to innovative and creative storytelling moments. As President of the LA Chapter, I've seen firsthand how the AIMP has fostered the very same collaboration and relationships by continuing to educate our members with the knowledge they need to thrive in all aspects of our industry."

Between educational programs and discussions, interactions with experts, ongoing powerful networking opportunities, AIMP provides a wealth of value to members. Award-winning singer-songwriter and editor Debbie Hennessey speaks highly of the organization, sharing that, "AIMP's panel luncheons are a wealth of information affecting the publishing world. Today's Music Supervisors panel was no exception.”

With Chapters in Los Angeles, New York, Nashville, and Atlanta, AIMP’s ongoing panels help empower music publishers with the latest trends and best practices through forum discussions and Q&A sessions that navigate ongoing challenges and evolution within the industry. The informal supportive atmosphere of the organization’s monthly meetings, forums, and workshops, fosters an active and valuable community of music publishers, record labels, movie and television production companies,  music supervisors, songwriters, and legal and accounting professionals, that encourage a healthy exchange of ideas, opinions, and advice.
