Neural DSP today announced Archetype: Tim Henson X, a revamped plugin that captures the brilliance of guitarist extraordinaire Tim Henson and marks the latest collaboration in Neural DSP’s celebrated series with the world's most creatively and technologically adventurous guitarists.
Everything about Tim Henson is distinctive, from his unparalleled technique to his genre-defying creativity. His tone is as expressive and dynamic as his playing, shifting between crystalline cleans, aggressive leads, and everything in between. In 2022, Archetype: Tim Henson gave players access to his hallmark sound. Now, Neural DSP takes it even further with Archetype: Tim Henson X, a completely revamped plugin that enhances the tools and flexibility available to players.
Naturally, Archetype: Tim Henson X includes Henson’s signature Multivoicer, now fully reworked for a more intuitive experience, making it easier than ever to craft intricate voicings and layered melodies. The refreshed user interface improves navigation, while new global features enhance both flexibility and functionality. And, of course, Quad Cortex compatibility will be available via a future CorOS update.

What’s New
Revamped Multivoicer: The Multivoicer UI has been fully reworked for a more intuitive experience, making it easier than ever to craft intricate voicings and layered melodies. Two new scale options, Harmonic Minor and Melodic Minor, further expand the tonal possibilities.
Redesigned UI: A refreshed interface with updated visuals makes navigation easier and improves usability. For instance, you can now click and drag to resize and adjust the window seamlessly to fit your preferred workflow.
Global Features: Neural DSP’s latest global features have been added, including Transpose, Doubler, Live Tuner, and Metronome (Standalone only).
Room Mics: The Room Send controls in the cabsim module introduce a subtle room-reverb effect, adding natural depth to your sound.
Updated EQs: The onboard 9-band graphic equalizers for all amps now feature high- and low-pass filters for even more precise tonal control.
Quad Cortex Compatibility: You'll be able to load Archetype: Tim Henson X onto your Quad Cortex with a future CorOS update.
The Multivoicer
Neural DSP’s intelligent Multivoicer algorithm, with a fully revamped UI for a more intuitive experience, lets you add four pitch-shifted voices to the signal, making it easy to recreate the rich, layered harmonies that are a hallmark of Tim’s sound. It includes two new Scale options, Harmonic Minor and Melodic Minor, for expanded tonal possibilities. The voicing library provides full control over the root note, modes, and chords, for both harmonization and arpeggiation. Activate MIDI Mode to receive MIDI chords or notes which will harmonize your DI signal to the MIDI-instructed pitch.
Pre Effects
Boost: A transparent clean boost that increases gain without coloring your tone, pushing your amp into natural breakup. Features a 2-band EQ (bass and treble) for precise tonal shaping.
Compressor: Tightens dynamics and adds sustain. The comp knob adjusts compression intensity, while the slow/fast switch controls attack speed.
Overdrive: Adds warmth, grit, and saturation.
Amps
Roses: A bright and sparkly amplifier faithfully recreated from Tim’s studio signal chain to bring the rich harmonics of your acoustic instruments. It also features Neural DSP’s proprietary blend control, which can simulate some of the acoustic/piezo sparkle on conventional pickups.
Cherubs: A low-gain British-voiced amplifier with two unique channels to achieve everything from glassy cleans to edge-of-breakup and warm crunch.
Pink: Dynamic and rich, the Pink amplifier is perfect for heavier rhythms and soaring lead. As Tim eloquently put it: “This one f**ks.”
Cabsim
Neural DSP engineered a very comprehensive and adaptive cabinet simulation module for Archetype: Tim Henson X featuring six virtual microphones that can be positioned around the speakers. New for the X update is the cabsim’s Room Send control module, which introduces a subtle but very cool room reverb effect, adding natural depth to the sound.

Stereo Chorus: Provides lush and swirly goodness with minimal tweaking.
Delay: With 3 modes (ping pong, wide, normal) and 3 types (diffusion, vintage digital, modern).
Reverb: From subtle rooms to apotheotic, angelical shimmers.
