The Womens Freedom Song Contest is now accepting submissions. The contest is searching for the next “female anthem,” to celebrate International Womens Day. Winners will be announced on International Women’s Day, March 8.
The contest runs until March 1. You can enter on the website (womensfreedomsong.com) or directly on the contest host platform at FilmFreeway at filmfreeway.com/WomensFreedomSongContest
The contest was created to challenge songwriters around the world to celebrate women in a song, just in time for International Womens Day. The contest is open to everyone and (all genders).
The song judges are: award-winning songwriter Alan Roy Scott (Celine, Patti Labelle, Notorious B.G. G, Pointer Sisters), Brent Backhus (recording engineer for The Whispers, John Lee Hooker, Solomon Burke), David Eaton (producer/engineer for Polyphonic Spree, Dynamite Hack, Archivist for Warner Brothers), Rick Rose (former staff writer for Sony ATV Nashville & Warner Chappell), Sara Knight (Talent Mgmt. & Booking Agency) and Diana Williamson (2 x #3 Billboard Hot Club Chart Writer, Author 101 Tips and Tricks of Successful Songwriting, Voting Member of the Grammys and Factor, CEO of Themusiclibrary.org).
The Womens Freedom Song contest is just the beginning. This inaugural event will be an annual contest. The WFS is also partnering with international female charities and affiliated organizations as well as celebrity musicians, to become involved in live events.
Some of the prizes include a consultation with award-winning author and founder of Music Connection Magazine, Michael Dolan, ADK microphones, a chance to pitch your music to film, TV and record labels through Broadjam, music business directories from The Music Registry, Indie Bible, Music Industry Connection, the “101 Tips and Tricks of Successful Songwriting” book, passes to the Springboard Festival Memphis and publicity on websites and social media blasts.
The contest was partly inspired by the growing movement around the world, working towards better and equal opportunities for women.
