Focusrite Welcomes Exponential Audio to Plug-In Collective

The Exponential Audio R2 stereo reverb plug-in-- worth $239--is free for Focusrite hardware customers (iLok 2 or iLok 3 required) in this month's Plug-in Collective offer. Those who register Focusrite hardware before May 1– or those who have already registered--receive the plug-in by signing in to their Focusrite accounts.

R2 aims to show how far the art of reverb has advanced, but Focusrite hardware customers can take that even further. When they redeem their R2 license, they will become eligible for 40% off R2 Surround and 50% off R4. R2 has been an essential part of music mixes as well as films and broadcasts. The plug-in is known as a character reverb that adds a tasty finish to any source material, and is capable of adding warmth and fatness to mixes that might otherwise be sterile. For soloists, it has a savory and deep tail that adds a high-production gloss to anything.

R2 is an efficient plug-in and requires no DSP card. The CPU load of a single copy is virtually invisible. Whether working on a big desktop computer or mixing with a laptop on the go, it delivers. It even has the capability to shut itself off when the track is idle, increasing its efficiency even more.

R2 Surround is an expanded version of R2, featuring additional control over early reflections and a native channel count of up to 7.1. "The R2 Surround has become a staple in my template,” said music scoring mixer Alan Myerson (Gladiator, Dunkirk, Interstellar, Wonder Woman, Kong: Skull Island). “It's my go-to percussion reverb and finds its way on my orchestra a lot. I haven't done a mix without it since I first got it.”

R4 is the newest Exponential Audio reverb, and combines the classic sound of hardware reverberation with an all-modern approach. "There's nothing else in my plug-ins folder quite like R4,” said producer, engineer and mixer Jack Ruston (Judas Priest, McBusted). “It's sonically sublime--the quality of the reverb tail is beyond reproach, but it also has all this bold, creative functionality--the freeze function is inspired, the warp options, gating and modulation. It's a classic sound in a modern context--a true replacement for the algorithmic reverbs that we've all grown to love, updated to let us do things we never could in the past. This is what happens when a product from a truly talented and experienced developer is allowed to mature over time."

Exponential Audio plug-ins are used on Grammy-winning albums as well as hit movies.
